From [info]fox2mike's blog -- http://www.stwing.upenn.edu/~jenf/writing/rant04.html. 'Tis a riot. A tad optimistic for my tastes, but well worth a read.

[Update: Surprisingly enough, the author of this is of a female persuasion. And seemingly very cool.]

It's hard to explain. You'd have to identify with some of those things to get it. Rueful, self-deprecatory, then amused smiles will then ensue.

Strangely enough, there are at least two people I know who said, "that's me!" (and it was true, too) -- I wonder how many guys truly believe that they're nice guys.

Well, I made one believe it. I am sure there are others who can, too. :)

Brainwashing starts at home (heard while watching a *family* drama):-

"Oh, you wouldn't do that to me ... you're such a nice guy."

Somewhere in the lines of gentlemen don't wage war on women or million other things which is called Chivalry (in other words, be what you not are). Forced to conform or be part of evolution's overflow from the gene pool (*ahe*).

A History ...
[info]louiswu

Hey [info]popcorn09, don't take all this too seriously. This wasn't intended to be a rant against women. Humans are humans, gender notwithstanding.

But your comment did trigger a memory from a story I particularly like:

The obvious thing to do was to give the running of the world over to women. There was Thatcher in the Falklands and Indira Gandhi in Bangladesh, it was true; but still it would be worth trying, it could hardly get worse! And given the maternal instinct, it would probably be better. Give every first lady her husband's job. Perhaps every woman her man's job. Let the men care for the children, for five thousand years or fifty thousand, one for every year of murderous patriarchy.

Frankly, my dear, I don't think it'd change a thing (and no, I can't pull the Casablanca look, in my dreams, even - *smiles*).

Read that rant more closely and read the penultimate paragraph :)

My guess is MOST guys would classify themselves within.. simply coz you'd *like* to think so. Exceptions would include guys who have found the *converted* girl.:)

At least they recognize the fact. Not that they do too much about it.
